Goat Girl bassist Holly Mullineaux releases new track 'Sandman', the first taste of her solo project H.L. Grail released on Spinny Nights imprint Underfoot. Enlisting help from bandmates Lottie Pendlebury, Rueben Kyriakides and Ellie Rose-Davies on violin, cello and backing vocals respectively, and co-produced by Euan Hinshelwood (Cate Le Bon) the track is an earnest and reflective take on the difficulties of a past relationship. The softly strummed acoustic guitar is gently punctuated by meandering piano riffs interplaying with gently plucked strings and a chorus surrounded by layers of warm bowed cello and violin; it is a melancholic folk-ish track that has a spacious quality whilst being intimate and emotionally resonant. Check out the self directed video below, a striking point of view shot of early morning sea swimming in Portsmouth, a practice that has become in equal parts "passions/coping mechanisms" for the artist.
